Essay in 6th grade “Why Vladimir Dubrovsky became a robber”

Revenge on Troyekurov

At the time the story began, Vladimir Dubrovsky was in service, far from his father’s estate. Only the letter, which spoke about Andrei Gavrilovich’s illness, contributed to the closest meeting between father and son. Dubrovsky Jr. learns about the quarrel between his father and Kirila Petrovich Troekurov. Former friends came into conflict with each other because of the disrespectful words of Troekurov's servant. Kirila Petrovich, being a noble and rich man in the area, contributes to the fact that Dubrovsky Sr. is deprived of his estate. Andrei Gavrilovich cannot withstand the betrayal of his friend and the loss of his estate, so he dies. This becomes the reason why Vladimir Dubrovsky hatches a plan for revenge on his father’s enemy.

At a certain point, the main character pretends to be another person: the Frenchman Deforges. In this guise, Dubrovsky gets a job as a teacher in Troekurov’s house, constantly thinking about revenge.

Plot of the novel

At the center of the events is a young man, a retired guardsman, Vladimir Dubrovsky, as well as a lovely girl, Maria Troekurova, for whom the young man has tender feelings. Offended by the actions of his beloved’s father, directed against his parent, Vladimir begins to take revenge on him, choosing a unique method.

However, at the beginning of the novel, the reader cannot see the main character, since the author deliberately does not bring him onto the stage, trying to describe the events preceding his robber attacks. He describes in detail the relationship between Dubrovsky Sr. and Kirila Petrovich Troekurov. This allows everyone to understand what circumstances forced Vladimir Dubrovsky to become a robber .

The first few chapters describe peaceful events that would not cause conflict. The topic of wealth and poverty is not raised, the image of Troekurov is quite harsh, but the author does not present him in the worst light, giving everyone the opportunity to determine their attitude towards him.

Patron of peasants

Vladimir Dubrovsky was unable to save his family’s estate. One day Troyekurov’s people came to him and told him to vacate the estate. Then Dubrovsky burned it so that it would not go to his enemies. The peasants, who knew that Kirila Petrovich Troekurov was a powerful and cruel person, did not want to be under his authority, so they supported Vladimir and went with him into the forest. A bandit gang formed there, the leader of which was Vladimir himself. Dubrovsky felt responsible for the lives of the peasants. This becomes a kind of explanation why Vladimir Dubrovsky became a robber.

The romantic “noble” robber is an image that is well known in world literary practice. As a rule, they were rejected representatives of the noble class, treacherously deceived by friends or offended by a corrupt law.

Pushkin's hero Vladimir Dubrovsky is one of these “noble” knights of the night. But he did not immediately become a robber. The reader knows that this young man was educated in the Cadet Corps, then served in the guards regiment of the city on the Neva.

Like a typical noble son, not lacking in funds, he led the ordinary life of a young rake: he played cards, caroused, got into debt, dreamed of a rich dowry upon marriage. True, this is only the external side of his life. His soul suffered without mother's love and father's affection.

He revered his parent and loved his home, where he spent his childhood.

Old Dubrovsky died, unable to withstand the moral bullying of his “friend” Troekurov, who untruthfully took away his family estate of Kistinevka. Vladimir learned about this unrighteous act and acted like a real romantic hero.

He burned the estate and, together with his loyal servants, went robber. His action can be explained. Vladimir could not leave the memory of the people closest to him to the person he hated.

It is hardly by chance that Dubrovsky, before the fire in Kistinevka, “with a strong emotion” reads his mother’s letters.

Vladimir Dubrovsky understood perfectly well what kind of life awaited him in the future. He was threatened with a miserable existence. Despair pushes him onto the path of robbery.

The gang led by him robs and burns rich estates, but he does not touch Pokrovskoye, Troekurov’s estate, because his beloved Masha lives there.

Love for her extinguishes his anger a little; Vladimir admits that he “gave up revenge as if it were madness.” But it is no longer possible to stop the predatory tyranny.

Attacks are becoming more frequent. And although, having shown exceptional nobility, Dubrovsky still does not take revenge on Troekurov and does not kill Prince Vereisky, who became Masha’s husband, he continues his unjust business, which becomes more and more cruel and daring.

The bandit's "nobility" ends in a real bloody war and the murder of an officer. Now Dubrovsky is a killer, and not a defender and avenger. Realizing this himself, Vladimir disbands his gang, after which “the menacing robberies and fires stopped.”

Dubrovsky’s behavior can be explained, but it cannot be justified, because one of the Christian commandments says: “Thou shalt not kill.” A person who crosses this line for any reason is therefore called a criminal.

Essay on the topic Why Dubrovsky becomes a robber

Vladimir Dubrovsky is the main character of the novel by A.S. Pushkin "Dubrovsky".

This young man was sent to study in the Cadet Corps from an early age. He, being a young man, was quite a spendthrift, loved to play cards and went into debt. His father spared no money for him and tried to provide for his son as best he could.

One day, Vladimir receives a letter in which his nanny reports that his father is seriously ill.

Dubrovsky, although he was cut off from his family from an early age, still loved his father. He goes to his home

His father was a military man, an honest and fair man. He communicated closely with the arrogant, rich gentleman Kirill Petrovich Troekurov. Somehow a disagreement occurred between them, and the master decided to take revenge on his former comrade. He, by bribing judges, won the right to own the Dubrovsky estate. This made a great impression on Father Dubrovsky. He became isolated, fell into madness, fell ill and died some time later.

Dubrovsky, experiencing the death of his father, is overwhelmed with despair and anger. He does not want to give the estate to Troekurov and burns it, and he himself hides from the estate with some people.

Vladimir Dubrovsky remains without a roof over his head and without means of subsistence. These circumstances pushed him to become a robber.

However, he was not cruel; on the contrary, he was known as a very noble robber. The gang, under his leadership, attacks the rich, robs and burns estates.

Dubrovsky does not touch Troekurov's estate. He refused to take revenge on the master because of his love for his daughter Masha Troekurova.

When Dubrovsky and his gang were surrounded by soldiers, he kills the officer. Dubrovsky decides to stop, he leaves his gang and asks them to start a new, quiet life without robberies. According to rumors, he is leaving abroad, and the crime wave is ending.

Return to robbery

Vereisky often visits Troekurov’s house and talks to his daughter, but she remains indifferent. For a short period of time, she has already imagined herself as Vladimir’s wife, so she cannot imagine her life without him. However, the wedding date is set and the future spouses go to church for the wedding. After the ceremony, a gang of robbers led by Dubrovsky stands in their way.

Vladimir tries to free his beloved, but she replies that she has already made an oath, so she cannot break it. Dubrovsky is amazed and upset, enters into battle with the soldiers and flees justice abroad.

If you carefully read the work, you can understand the motives that pushed the young man onto the path of robbery. The death of his father, for which Troekurov was guilty, forced Vladimir to take revenge and deceive those around him. This feeling burned him from the inside and did not allow him to concentrate on other problems. Dubrovsky was in vain to think that after justice was done he would feel relief. Thanks to his love for the daughter of his enemy, he abandoned the thought of revenge.

However, fate again presented an unpleasant surprise, so the former robber returns to his old habits, trying to save Maria.

  • Conclusion.
  • In A. S. Pushkin’s novel “Dubrovsky” we see the image of a noble robber, Vladimir Dubrovsky. This hero was not immediately a robber - he became one because of the circumstances. Those who have read the novel will definitely be able to answer that Dubrovsky could not do otherwise, and circumstances forced him to become a robber.

Vladimir Dubrovsky lost his mother early. Then the father, Alexey Gavrilovich, sent his son to St. Petersburg for service. Young Dubrovsky was a spoiled young man, he loved to spend money and wasted his life. He dreamed that a rich beauty would become his wife. He was selfish and frivolous.

But everything changed after Dubrovsky learned about his father’s illness and what happened to their estate. Dad's nurse told how Kirilla Petrovich Troekurov brazenly deprived them of their estate. And the son decides to go home.

Vladimir found his father’s death on his former estate, in Kistenevka. There he learned what happened between his father and Troekurov, and this made a strong impression on him. He was angry and wanted revenge.

When the bailiffs arrived to describe the estate in order to transfer it to Troekurov, the peasants rebelled - they had served Dubrovsky all their lives, and did not want to go over to the evil Troekurov. Vladimir decides to start a riot - he ordered Arkhip to take all the people out of the house and set fire to the estate itself. Arkhip and other serfs did not listen and burned the house along with the bailiffs.

It is not difficult to imagine the situation in which Vladimir found himself - his estate was burned down along with the visiting people, and the first suspicions fell on him. How to justify himself, who will believe him? But what to do with the serfs? After all, they are left without a livelihood, they have no job, no home...

Then Dubrovsky decided to flee - he gathered his people, those who remained faithful to him, and everyone began to hunt for robbery. They robbed wealthy landowners, who were rumored to be greedy, arrogant, mistreating peasants, and simply considered themselves superior to others.

Only Troekurov was not touched by Dubrovsky - he wanted to take revenge on him in a special way. The insult caused to Dubrovsky’s family was too great - his father, the only person close to him, died from worries about the estate. Therefore, Vladimir thirsted for revenge.

We don’t know Vladimir’s plan for sure. We only know that he exchanged documents with a French teacher who was traveling to teach Troekurov’s son, Sasha. This is how Deforge appeared in the house of Kirill Petrovich.

It so happened that Dubrovsky’s plans collapsed - he fell in love with Masha, Troekurov’s daughter. Love did not allow him to act cruelly to Masha’s father. This suggests that Dubrovsky is a noble and honest person, so he confessed to Masha about who he is.

He really wanted to save Masha from marriage with Vereisky, but it didn’t work out - problems arose with their secret correspondence, and Masha, who promised to be Vereisky’s wife, refused to leave with Dubrovsky. He took it very hard because he loved Masha very much.

Dubrovsky was not an evil man or a robber. He became a robber only because he had no other choice. He was accused of murder; he was responsible for his serfs. He couldn't help it. After all, he did not rob weak, poor, decent people. He knew those whom he robbed - these people were dishonest. Dubrovsky is a noble and honest man, and he committed robbery only because he wanted justice.
