Essay on the topic: My hobby - 3 options for mini-essays for grade 5

My Family's Hobby

When someone asks me about my family's hobby, I don't know what to answer. I have a big and friendly family. We spend a lot of time together and we like to do different things. We don't have one single hobby, but try to explore and discover new things. Life is interesting when you are opened for new and unusual things.

My dad likes to do crosswords. Every Sunday morning he comes to the kitchen where the whole family is having breakfast and we do the crossword all together. He asks the questions and we give the answers one by one. This hobby is funny and very useful for our brains.

My grandad has a big library. Reading has been his hobby all his life. Today he has almost 500 different books and he has read all of them. Sometimes my friends come and take something to read from my grandad's library.

My mom is a big fan of movies. So every Friday and Saturday evening we watch some movie all together. We order pizza or cook something and enjoy family time.

I like to cook. I think I have got this hobby from my granny. She taught me to cook different things: cakes, cookies, soups, pasta, salads and even lasagna. When I have time I cook some dessert and I help my granny to cook lunch and dinner.

In past I went fishing with my grandad, I took care about my mom's flowers and even I did gardening with my parents. We try to change activity and in general we do what we like. I am sure if tomorrow one of us decides to become a football player the whole family will support him.

Besides we like picnics a lot. When the weather is good we go to the park or forest, make barbecue and talk. We can talk about everything.

In general I have great family. We support and help each other. As for our hobby you can see that our main hobby is to stay together.

What are your interests outside of work and hobbies you cannot indicate on your resume?

Most people looking for work have hobbies that they can’t imagine their life without. But it is not advisable to indicate them. Prohibited list, these include: gambling; participation in car racing; excessive religiosity; tattoo; communication on social networks; interest in magic and fortune telling; interest in subcultures. Are such hobbies worth putting on your resume? Absolutely not! After work, you can do any business, but the manager must be confident in you that you will not scare off visitors with your extraordinary appearance; you will not promote your religion in the workplace; and also you won’t disappear for a few days because you have a competition. Therefore, the preferences mentioned above are not recommended to be mentioned at all.

Errors when filling out the “hobbies and interests” column

To unlock potential opportunities, you need to be extremely careful when selecting a list and describing your interests. The biggest mistake is writing about what you don't do. Effective tips on how to describe your hobbies, examples: When applying for a position as a TV presenter, it would be inappropriate to write “boxing.” You can only expect a negative impression from the recruiter. It would be more accurate to indicate such leisure activities for this vacancy as: blogging, playing sports, singing, doing volunteer work, reading; Do not write more than three hobbies, because the employer will perceive the information as an impossibility of devoting the full maximum to working moments; Traveling is not the best option. Recruiters are afraid of such individuals due to the uncertainty of their constancy and stability (of course, for a particular type of activity this can be a plus); When filling out the column, you should present your positive personal qualities as much as possible, for example, if you are a coach of a football team, then you can mention your ability to plan and organize activities, solve problems, set the pace and idea.

How to write a hobby when writing a resume if you don’t have any

Even if you don’t have any hobbies, do not leave this column blank. Indicate any type of activity from the examples. If you want to take a position where you need to communicate with people, mention that you are interested in psychological literature. But prepare for questions on this topic in advance. If you have absolutely no imagination, indicate that you prefer to spend your free time with your family or go to the suburbs. This will once again show your positive sides, and will not leave the employer completely unresponsive. Now let’s answer the question “Do I need to write a hobby on my resume?” Answer: of course yes, while conveying personal professional skills, and not non-standardism, so as not to frighten off the recruiter.

Option 3

Human consciousness and mind have limitations in this world; hypothetically they can cover vast expanses, but still they are more often concentrated on something specific. Even a scientist who thinks on a galactic scale or a philosopher who embraces the very foundations of existence does not always remain within these scales. Only a few people succeed in this, but even this requires effort and exercise, and scientists and philosophers do all this by virtue of their own profession.

It is typical for a simpler person to have some kind of business or occupation. Sometimes there are different activities, however, this range of interests determines the prism through which a person sees this world. This spectrum actually fills human life with a certain content, and it becomes richer and more complete the more passionate a person is.

Passion is probably a sign of harmonious activity, although sometimes, of course, it can be the fruit of delusion or an excessive desire to achieve some goal. In the best case, a person becomes passionate when his activity goes deeper into himself and allows the person himself to develop. Moving further in his actions, a person begins to feel something new and acquire new facets of skills.

As Eastern wisdom says, if you know mastery in one thing, you learn mastery in everything. We are talking about the presence of a general principle that constitutes any skill as such. We have in mind quite deep matters, so we will not develop such a difficult consideration further; let’s return to passion, which is probably a sign of acquiring mastery.

A passionate person concentrates on one thing, but through such concentration he learns about the whole world, he becomes part of this whole world and understands the essence. Indeed, it is difficult for a person to fully embrace the universe with his mind, but he can stop at something individual, gain a deep understanding that can actually extend to any other phenomenon. This opportunity opens up precisely through passion.

For example, it’s worth remembering how enthusiastically you read a book or write an essay. You read or write about one thing, but it seems as if the whole world is manifested through these lines, as if nothing else exists, but this existence is huge and all-encompassing, it is fascinating.
