I like to sort out different ways to solve a problem, refer to some set of rules or norms of behavior. In addition, I am very interested in the legal state of our society, the legal structure of the state. It gives me pleasure to compare the effects of different laws, to study their “capacity” and effectiveness. And that’s why I think that the legal profession is suitable for me.

Why I decided to become a lawyer...

Work is part of our life. And it should be pleasant and loved, like a hobby. This concept very closely fits the concept of an ideal job, since a hobby is a type of human activity, a kind of activity, a hobby that is regularly practiced at leisure, for the soul. Hobbies are a good way to combat stress, and hobbies often help develop your horizons. The main goal of a hobby is to help self-realization. Often, over time, a hobby develops into a main activity, a job that brings income and moral satisfaction. Therefore, an ideal job is an activity that you enjoy and, in addition, generates income. Usually, a person chooses as his main job exactly what he liked, as a hobby or main hobby “for the Soul.”

An ideal job is a person’s purpose and self-realization. After all, we put our soul into our work, realize our abilities, satisfy our needs, fulfill our desires. An ideal job should correspond to the rhythm of life and fit exactly into a person’s personal characteristics. It gives a person the opportunity to be in his place and do his job.

I believe that the choice I made in a professional direction gave me an incentive to engage in an ideal job that gives the right to self-realization and satisfaction of life ambitions, such as:

engaging in an activity that is reliable and stable, brings pleasure from both the process and the result, which is interesting and even creative, preserves personality, promotes development: spiritual, personal and professional growth of myself and my employees;
implementing reasonable communication with people, social benefit, promoting good relations with employees;
obtaining income that allows you to support your family and help your parents make savings;
availability of time for family, rest, self-development.

The legal profession is one of the oldest. It originated in Ancient Rome. The first professional lawyers were members of the College of Pontiffs, who were involved in resolving almost all controversial issues that arose among citizens. They also helped people in concluding important transactions, drafting claims and other important legal documentation. The very concept of the term “lawyer” comes from the Latin word meaning “law”, and therefore jurisprudence means “knowledge of the law”. The founders of law as a branch of science were such philosophers of the ancient world as: Socrates, Aristotle, Plato.

Currently, the essence of the profession has not changed somewhat and lawyers, like their ancient colleagues, the pontiffs, perform the same functions, widely using in their work the experience accumulated over centuries.

Modern lawyers provide a wide range of services. They help citizens in resolving various cases. Also, they officially represent the interests of persons in court and appeal court decisions to various authorities.

In addition to providing services to individuals, lawyers also participate in the activities of enterprises. They effectively accompany enforcement proceedings and provide advice on legal issues related to taxation and business. Lawyers are entrusted with registration and support of societies, institutions, and organizations. They are also involved in the registration (liquidation) of all limited liability companies and individual entrepreneurs. Participate in the development of all kinds of contracts, constituent documents, instructions, and other legal documents.

The positive aspect of this profession is the opportunity to improve the world for the better, make it safe and fair. Unfortunately, the “struggle for justice” does not always end in victory. In addition, every lawyer is constantly under the close control of higher authorities, public organizations and media workers, and each of his mistakes can greatly affect his reputation and jeopardize his career in the future.

Now the concept of “lawyer” unites all people engaged in diverse professional legal activities - judges, investigators, prosecutors, notaries, legal advisers, lawyers, and sometimes experts. In the Russian Federation, a lawyer can be a person who has received secondary or higher professional legal education. As a general rule, in order to defend persons brought to criminal liability, a lawyer must pass a qualification exam and become a lawyer; at the request of the accused, as well as in cases of private prosecution, it is possible to admit another person to carry out the defense. To provide legal assistance in civil, administrative and other cases, a lawyer does not need to have the status of an attorney.

I started practicing as a lawyer not so long ago, since I have little experience and an incomplete higher legal education. However, my work has become the meaning of life - my hobby. That’s why I chose to work as a lawyer.

Why did I choose the specialty of an expert?

My name is Maria, I am a 3rd year student at the Faculty of Law of Moscow State University. M.V. Lomonosov, Department of Criminalistics. Every student in the 3rd or 4th year asks himself the question whether he is making the right choice of specialty, and often this question does not depend on whether you have dreamed of this specialty all your life or are trying to decide while receiving your education. My dream has always been to become a criminologist. It all started with unconscious and abstract images in childhood, obtained from books and documentaries, of which there were a countless number in my leisure time already in elementary school. I continued studying the profession at a distance in high school and, finally, entering the main university of the country. And now, when half of the training has been completed, I wonder if I deceived myself by blindly following my childhood dream. The answer to this question will be the subject of my short essay, which I hope will not be too boring and trivial for the reader.

Why did I choose this specialty? Because I am 99.9% sure (even if we put aside the maximalism typical of young people) that this is my element. Attentiveness, responsibility, education and development - not only these qualities should characterize an expert. Rigor and agility of intellect and quick wit also need to be mentioned in this list. These qualities are either inherent to the individual by nature or develop with experience, and it cannot be said that specialists in other industries may not possess them. Therefore, I will highlight, in my opinion, the most important thing - a person should “be passionate” about his profession in the good sense of the word. I chose this specialty because I am “sick” of it not emotionally, but mentally. For me, this is limitless scope for science - searching for new problems and studying old ones. For me, this is the living key of creativity - finding solutions and innovating methods. For me, this is an opportunity to direct all the sharpness of my mind to an object and fish out the smallest details, go from the particular to the general, and assemble one big puzzle. What is important to me is a constantly growing interest, the opportunity to learn, cultivate a large amount of material within myself and pour it into practice.

I have a lot to say about my choice. The key is the dynamics and scientific nature of the profession. There are many strong walls built around these categories that make my decision strong and unshakable. And now, to answer my own question: I was not mistaken.

While still at school, I learned about the specialty “Customs Affairs”; I was immediately very interested in it, since one of its specializations is “Commodity research and examination in customs affairs and Commodity Nomenclature of Foreign Economic Activity”. When entering the university, I had absolutely no doubts about my choice, considering this area of scientific knowledge not only one of the most interesting, but also useful.

Having completed an internship at the Tula Forensic Laboratory, I was not at all disappointed in my choice. Every day of practice I was in different departments: from handwriting to auto technical; I constantly learned something new for myself. Helping experts carry out their research, working with all kinds of reagents and using special equipment, I realized how interesting and exciting this profession is!

Years of study at the university and the wealth of knowledge, skills and abilities instilled in us by our teachers, including practical forensic workers, allow me to look forward with hope and optimism to the start of my career in the field of forensic science. Of course, I still have a lot to learn, but thanks to the experience of our teachers and the guidance of practical workers, I am sure that the profession I have chosen for study is very important and relevant, and the knowledge gained from this will be useful to me in all areas of my life.
