A large number of literary works show the character of a Russian person, his basic behavior in society. This image is conveyed through human exploits, both in the works of classics and in real life.
One of the features of the soul of a Russian person is the ability to mobilize one’s strength at a critical, responsible moment, the readiness and ability to perform a feat. This feature of behavior is formed from the traditional way of life of a person. Cold winters and relatively short summers in most of the country contributed to the historical accumulation of energy and its saving until the right moment in life. Of course, this explains the tendency towards drama and pessimistic moods in society itself and in a particular person.
Any foreigner can perceive such behavior as laziness, lack of initiative, and long-suffering. This is partly true; wasting energy on useless throwing is unusual for the character of a person living in such harsh natural conditions.
Contentment with little, like any natural process, cannot last long. There must come a critical moment of restructuring the perception of one’s place in society. Self-awareness and active decision making. The reason for such awakenings after hibernation can be revolutionary or mass injustice, death, a violation of the natural balance, something that requires one to behave heroically. For example, massive deforestation can provoke justified popular anger. And it will arise spontaneously, like a natural phenomenon.
At such moments, a Russian person shows his best character traits. This is heroism, self-sacrifice, hard work and perseverance.
There is one more character trait that must be mentioned. This is a sense of justice. If in the culture of the inhabitants of America or Europe what is due to a person by law is fair, then for a Russian person what he deserves is fair. This concept of justice dominates in human consciousness over legality.
And of course, one cannot help but say about the tenacity of the character of the Russian person. Living in a territory that was subject to numerous conquests, when protracted wars were waged with the virtual elimination of the population of the territory, for example, the defense of Kozelsk in 1238, people developed the habit of sticking together until the very end.
About character
“Russian character” - we often hear this expression, but what does it mean, when and in relation to whom is it used? Is it only to a person of Russian nationality?
Over the centuries, Russian character traits have been formed. First of all, it is tolerance. Many friendly nationalities live on Russian territory. Each with their own mentality, but with acceptance of each other. Having gone shoulder to shoulder through wars, crises and other difficulties plaguing Russia, the people form common qualities, which were later called the character of a Russian person, regardless of nationality.
So what is the peculiarity of the Russian character? A Russian person can be lazy and selfish, but as soon as trouble comes, the Russian character manifests itself in all its glory. Courage, justice, compassion. And also patience and ingenuity, friendliness and perseverance.
When the Russian people are united, they are not afraid of either the enemy or harsh weather conditions. During the Great Patriotic War, the Russian people experienced terrible hardships, hunger, cold, but remained human under any circumstances. It is in difficult times that heroes are born, who will later be written about in history books, and their character will be transferred to the heroes of fiction.
Russian soldiers save women and children, and stand alone to the last against numerous enemies. In Berlin there is a monument to a soldier with a rescued girl in his arms. The Russian people will always provide help without asking who, what nationality, and what faith.
The ingenuity of a Russian person is known far beyond the borders of his homeland and often surprises foreign minds with its simplicity. The saying is appropriate here: “Sometimes you don’t need a scientist, but you need a smart one.”
Not only men have a Russian character. A well-known expression about a Russian woman says: “She will stop a galloping horse and enter a burning hut.” Always in difficult times, a Russian woman stood next to a man. She carried the wounded from the battlefield on her shoulders, worked in the factory, in the fields, replacing men. Russian women were admired by poets and writers. Nekrasov dedicated a poem to the wives of the Decembrists, which he called “Russian Women”
For many centuries, enemies tried to break the spirit of the Russian people, but the patient, gentle and hospitable people invariably fought back.
Option 2
For ten centuries, our country has been subjected to the most difficult trials. Since the time of Vladimir, fate has tested the Russian people for “strength.” How many wars have befallen Rus'? Then there was the Russian Empire, then the Soviet Union. But even today, unshakable Russia is “passing the test” for perseverance. Of course, the character of one person has nothing in common with the character of an entire people. Alone we can be lazy, melancholic, envious. But by uniting, all negative qualities go away. All that remains is unbroken fortitude, courage, honesty and mutual understanding.

Wise sayings of the Russian people that are worth knowing
... a code regulating collective sentiments and emotions. Below are examples of essays on the topic “The beauty and wisdom of rituals.” Calendar rituals Calendar rituals of the Russian people go back to the times of the ancient Slavs. In... ended with the burning of an effigy of Winter. After this holiday I felt as if I had been in a fairy tale. And recently we got acquainted with another interesting Russian ritual...
All this is not unfounded: “Moscow, burned by fire, was given to the French...”. Back in 1812, subjects of the Russian Empire showed Napoleon’s army “where the crayfish spend the winter.” How did people with virtually no knowledge of military affairs manage to defeat the strong French army? Faith and common cause!
Revolution! Murder of the royal family. There is no justification for those terrible acts of 1917. Whites against reds. Reds against whites. But on the “remains” of the Russian Empire, like a phoenix from the ashes, the Soviet Union is born.
The Russian character can be described not only by love for the Motherland, but also by love of one’s neighbor. From literature, films, and history textbooks, we know how selflessly female nurses carried wounded soldiers from the battlefield on their fragile shoulders. Russian character is also compassion. After all, those nurses did not divide the wounded into “friends and foes.” The Great Patriotic War became the apogee of Russian resilience. Even remembering the fact that the atheist Stalin allowed the flight with an icon over the battlefield, suggests that the Russian spirit is strong and its strength lies in unity.
Ninety-first year. The burdens of life are once again falling on the shoulders of the Russian people. The collapse of the Union, uncertainty in the country, crisis. But cities continued to be built, people went to work, got married, and had children. Life flowed on, no one despaired.
Twenty first century. News pages of newspapers, television, radio - broadcast about ongoing conspiracies against our country. World War III – information war. But even today, Russians unite against their enemies and fight back not only with actions, but also with words.
But even such a seemingly trifle as the “World Cup” once again united our country, made all the fans of our team one! Not only fans, but also football players united. They "played for us"! The Russian national team does not go home like football players from other countries. Our team is already home, we have already won! Again! Unbroken Russian spirit!
Essay 3
The Russian national character is perhaps the most mysterious character on the globe. And the owners of this character are truly unique people.
The main feature of Russian people is kindness. They will share it, serve it, warm it, wash it, put it to bed. If there is no money, they will thank you in kind, but they will definitely thank you: they will give you a piece of pie, a dozen eggs from your chicken, and pour a glass of moonshine. Russian people collect huge sums for the treatment of sick children - “everything from around the world.”
The Russian person is very talented. Rus' has given so much to the world: scientists, writers, composers, poets, and various crafts - Palekh, Gzhel, Khokhloma. There is no such number of unique individuals in any other state. The whole world is engrossed in the classical works of Russians, and in “the field of ballet we are ahead of the rest.” And not just ballet. And the quality and quantity of people's talents is simply amazing.
The Russian character is very strong. In order not to explain for a long time, just look at our Paralympic athletes and remember Alexey Meresyev.
Russians often do not know when to stop. After all, the Russian proverb says: The soul is the measure. And the size of the Russian soul is breadth and depth of soul. It is breadth, not breadth. But the soul has no bottom. And Russians do everything from the heart: they love “to the depths of their souls” and they also hate “with all their souls.” And sometimes they can “love” you to death. By the way, the word to fall in love is only in Russian. And “love in Russian” is also only in Russia.
Russians have a unique language. It is difficult to teach and difficult for a foreigner to understand. Synonyms, homonyms, declensions, exceptions, metaphors and quotes. And phraseological units are a different story. And each city has its own dialect: okayut or akayut, inflect the indeclinable and conjugate the inconjugable. In the Yaroslavl region, “kazat kina” means “show a movie.”
There are two main words in the vocabulary and character of a Russian person - maybe it will carry through. And the phrase - maybe it will carry through. And it carries through, which is typical! Even a bag was invented specifically for Russians - a string bag: you always have it with you in case you need to buy something, it takes up little space and holds a lot.
Russian people love holidays. The holiday can be anything - international or church, but it will be celebrated “with feeling, with sense, with arrangement.” If holidays are not enough, then the Russian will come up with them: this is how Realtor Day and Civil Registry Office Employee Day appeared. It is desirable that the holidays should not last one day, but should proceed in an orderly sequence.
On holidays, it is customary to “make a table” and call guests. Russians are very hospitable and generous with treats: sometimes, in order to welcome guests “expensively and richly”, their entire salary is spent. The table amazes with its abundance and variety. And it always amazed me – even in an era of total shortage. They treat you to the point of hiccups and indigestion, and are sincerely offended if guests refuse.
Russians love to sing. Especially at the table. Then they sing mainly Russian folk songs. Everyone sings, even those who have neither voice nor hearing. This is called “singing with the soul.”
There is anger in the Russian character. Not just anger, but “combat anger.” Often, for a Russian to achieve anything, you just need to make him angry. And then he will swim the fastest and jump in four turns. Russians prefer not to start doing something right away, but to think thoroughly: If you start, you will cry and then finish. Russians take a long time to harness, but drive quickly.
Russians love everything beautiful and strive for beauty. After all, “beauty will save the world,” as Dostoevsky said - by the way, a great Russian writer. Therefore, they gild, tighten, pluck and inject Botox into all places. It’s not for nothing that Russian women are recognized as the most beautiful in the world.
Russian people are very trusting. They believe everything and everyone: TV and psychics, cardiologists and gas service workers. Having faith within is good, but you probably shouldn’t trust everyone indiscriminately.
Russian people are the most savvy and skillful in the world. They are able to get out of any situation and come up with an outlandish unit. And in terms of “life hacks,” as they say now, they have no equal in the world. Just using old tights is worth it. They often achieve unprecedented results without being able to explain how it happened: they bake delicious pies, adding ingredients “by eye.” They connect the wires, “knock the squiggle on the tumbler,” as the smart Zadornov wrote, and the broken CRT TV begins to work.
Russians have a sense of camaraderie. In a difficult hour, they will unite, push themselves and win together. And there are many proverbs about this: In a willing herd, the wolf is not afraid. It’s sickening to live alone in paradise.
Russian people are characterized by love for the Motherland and patriotism; they are capable of feats and recklessness in the name of an idea. They rush into the embrasure, go into a dive, remain silent under torture and survive the blockade. This phenomenon of the Russian people is especially mysterious and inexplicable.
Being Russian is not so bad: speaking Russian, loving in Russian, making friends in Russian. This means that having a Russian character is also not bad. Even great!

Essay Russian national character
Even in past centuries, great Russian writers composed poems, wrote stories and essays about the character of the Russian person; there are many quotes and aphorisms on this topic.
The character developed together with the development and history of Russia. Absolutely everything influenced the formation: the harsh climate, religion, multinationality, the rulers of the country with their own laws and charters, the vastness of the land, and more.
The main features are considered to be: gentleness, benevolence, hospitality, breadth of soul, compassion, a heightened sense of justice, humility, and perseverance.
Heroism.
A Russian person can be a hero every day:
- Left all the work for later - heroically completed it in a short time;
- He created problems for himself - he overcame them brilliantly, solving some issues along the way;
- The boss demands a plan - please, here's to you with overfulfillment.
If we take examples from the war years, the slogan “everything for the war, everything for the front!”, they gave away the last piece of bread just to support the country, leaving nothing for themselves. Here we can also see complete dedication, self-sacrifice for the common good, for a common goal.
In general, the Russian people are not characterized by: cynicism, selfishness, arrogance, arrogance, lies. Very self-critical, doubting themselves and their actions. Sometimes they reflect on the essence of existence and philosophize.
