On the shore where he landed, some beautiful girl starts a conversation with him - as if they had known each other for a long time. Having reached one of the islands, Francis meets an angry man there, who immediately demands, like the girl, that he get away. This is where it comes down to hand-to-hand combat. Francis threatens to put the stranger on his shoulder, but he himself finds himself pinned to the ground. You have to endure humiliation and leave the island. In pursuit, the winner mockingly asks if the opponent will leave his business card? Snorting in response, Francis still gives his last name. Hearing her, the owner of the island makes the assumption that he had a fight with one of his distant relatives: his name is Henry Morgan. Looking at the portrait of the ancestor of the Morgans hanging in his hut, he realizes something else - the amazing external resemblance of the uninvited guest to the old pirate and to himself.
Francis.
Henry's attitude towards the enemy changes. Seeing Francis on the other side of the strait struggling to fight off the Indians who attacked him, he rushes to his aid, and then drags the exhausted man into the hut. A lot becomes clearer here. The young people say their names and come to the conclusion that they have a common ancestor, whose treasures they are both looking for. After listening to Francis's story about meeting a strange girl, Henry realizes that this is the daughter of the Spaniard Enrico Solano, Leoncia, to whom he was engaged and who mistook the stranger for him because of their striking resemblance. The wedding did not take place because the groom was accused of murdering Alfaro Solano, Leoncia's uncle. Henry did not commit murder, but by chance it was he who found Alfaro’s body with a knife in his back, and at that moment the gendarmes saw him. Due to a false accusation, Leoncia returned the wedding ring he had given to Henry, and Henry, in order to avoid reprisals, had to flee.

The beginning of the story
The narrative of the novel “Hearts of Three” begins with an acquaintance with Francis Morgan. This is a young man of pleasant appearance, he is the heir of a very wealthy father, he has such qualities as:
- ambition;
- decency;
- honesty;
- nobility.
He does not yet know about the adventures that await him ahead. At the same time, a certain Thomas Regan learns about a treasure left by Francis' distant ancestor, the pirate Henry Morgan.
Regan hates the entire Morgan family, his goal is to ruin the heir. He does not believe in the existence of treasures , but knowing Francis's passion for adventure decides to send him on a long and dangerous adventure. The young man is glad to get rid of boredom, so he gets involved in an adventure with pleasure.
The Englishman hires a schooner with the beautiful name “Marquise” and sets sail, his path lies to the shores of Panama. On the island he meets a beautiful stranger.
She asks the hero to immediately swim away, Francis, not understanding what is happening, nevertheless follows her advice. Having landed on one of the islands, he meets a man with whom there is a quarrel and a shootout. Neither of them wants to give up their place to the other.
After an altercation, it turned out that his opponent Henry was also a direct descendant of the pirate Morgan. It turned out that they have family ties and are fourth cousins.
Francis shares a story with a new acquaintance about a strange girl on the shore, and he explains that she is his fiancee. She simply mistook him for her fiancé. It turns out that the couple was supposed to have a wedding, but it was canceled due to the fact that Henry was accused of murdering the bride's uncle , since the men had quarreled a lot before that. Leoncia returned the ring to her lover and broke off the engagement. And he had to run away.
Francis consoles his newly acquired brother and promises to arrange a truce for them. He later meets the girl, tells her about Henry's innocence and puts the ring back on her finger. Torres, who is in love with the beautiful Leoncia, is closely watching what is happening. It is he who brings the police, who take Henry into custody. But his friend and fiancée come to his aid, and as a result, the whole trio leaves the island.
The girl is tormented, now she already likes two Morgan brothers, they are also in love with the beautiful Leoncia Solano.
Eliminate the groom by any means necessary.
Francis undertakes to settle the misunderstanding, deliver the ring she returned to Leoncia and explain the true state of affairs.
All this succeeds, but the general peace is hampered by the appearance of Torres. He is in love with Leoncia and has made it his goal to eliminate her fiancé by any means necessary. As a result of the intrigues, Francis and Henry almost lose their lives on the same charge of murdering Alfaro (the similarities played a role here too). But they manage to escape the gallows and escape from the pursuit, led by the police chief and Torres, into the depths of the Cordillera. The fugitives are accompanied by the entire Solano family. On the way, Francis saves the life of a slave who fled from the torture of his plantation owner. Suddenly an old Indian, the man's father, appears. In gratitude for saving his son, he offers to take Francis and his companions to the place where the Mayan treasures are kept. Francis hesitates: he should return to New York, to the affairs of the stock market, and most importantly, he is too attracted to Leoncia, and it is better to leave so as not to compete with Henry. Meanwhile, Leoncia realized that her feelings were divided: she loved both Morgans! Tormented by this, Leoncia still does not want to be separated from Francis, and, yielding to her wishes, he remains. All participants in the events descend from the mountains. An expedition is being prepared. A week later she goes back to the Cordillera. An old Indian leads travelers to the foot of a high cliff. Having difficulty finding a crack in it, they get inside and find themselves in a cave with many mummies and a pile of bones. These are the remains of those who once tried to find Mayan treasures. Danger lurks at every step of the new newcomers. The guide's son dies after falling into the abyss under the feet of the stone goddess Chia. From the opened void, water begins to gush out like a fountain and fills the cave; a collapse blocks the previously found entrance.
Misfortune brings the captives of the mountain together with Torres, who quietly sneaks into its belly after them. Then we have to act together, helping each other. With difficulty they manage to find a saving passage through which, not finding treasures and almost losing their lives, they get out into the open. Below lies a valley called the Valley of Lost Souls. The tribe living there greets foreigners with hostility. For a decision on their fate, the old priest turns to the highest ruler of the tribe. This is a beautiful young woman with a golden tiara on her head - a real queen, according to Henry. Her decision is unexpected: all the captives will remain alive only if one of the men marries her.
Summary: Hearts of Three
For several weeks now, the rich heir of Richard Morgan, Francis, has been at home and wondering what he could do. But Richard Morgan's competitors are also not asleep. One of them, named Thomas Regan, learns that in ancient times, the ancestor of the entire Morgan family, Henry, hid a treasure. Moreover, as a certain Alvarez Torress said, he knows the exact location of the treasures. They have already had a conversation on this topic. And Alvarez suggested that Thomas equip an entire expedition to search for the treasure. Thomas really wants to finally get rid of young Morgan, and his absence from the factories at this time would be very useful. Therefore, without much delay, Regan invites Francis to go on an expedition with him. To which Francis unconditionally agrees. After all, he had never been on an adventure of such magnitude before. The expedition's route lies to Panama. Many surprises await Francis there. So, immediately after he landed on the shore, a young girl approached him and offered to meet her. She either kisses him or threatens him with a revolver. In general and
Further, Francis' path went through the archipelago of islands. At one of them, he met an angry young man. Who clearly did not want Francis to stay on this island for a long time. She attacks Francis with her fists and a fierce fight ensues. Francis Morgan first tries to put the offender on his shoulder blades, but without appropriate physical training, he fails to do this. However, what happens is that Francis himself ends up on the ground. He lost and now he must leave the island. But before leaving, his opponent asked for his card, apparently in order to mock him once again. Francis gave his last name - Morgan. When the young man returned to his hut, he immediately looked at the portrait hanging on the wall. Well, of course, how could he not have guessed earlier. After all, Francis Morgan is his blood relative. After all, he is also Morgan and the portrait of the pirate Morgan’s face is very similar to the face of the one whom he recently laid on his shoulder blades. He ran out into the street and rushed along the sea along the sand in the direction Francis had gone. He had barely taken three hundred steps when he saw Francis fighting off the Indians who attacked him. The young man immediately ran up to him and helped him deal with them. Later, he picked up the exhausted Francis from the sand and brought him to his hut. The main conversation between the young people took place inside the hut. It was found that Francis and Henry, that was the name of this young man, were blood relatives. After all, they have a common ancestor, Morgan. And the girl who stopped Francis as soon as he went ashore was the daughter of the Spaniard Solano. And her name is Leoncia. She simply mistook Francis for Henry, who had once been her boyfriend. They even had a wedding planned. But it did not take place due to chance. Leoncia's father is dead with a knife in his back. Just as Henry approached him. The gendarmes captured him and accused him of murder. But he managed to escape, because he did not commit this crime anyway.
Francis takes everything into his own hands. He wants to return Henry's ring to Leoncia with a request not to think that it was he who killed her father. Francis thinks of explaining everything to Leoncia. But everything would go well, but unfortunately for the Morgans, the same Torres arrives on the island, who also knows about the alleged location of the pirate Morgan’s treasure. Torres also saw Leoncia and fell in love with her. He had the idea to eliminate both competitors. Therefore, he again contacts the gendarmerie and shows the place where the Morgans live. They, in turn, flee, almost losing their own lives. But they manage to leave the chase behind and go deeper into the island. There they save the life of a slave unknown to them, who is running away from his master. After which, an Indian appears on their way. As it turned out, he is the father of that very man. After talking with the Morgans about the treasures, he invites them to show them the place where large caches of Mayan treasures are kept. Francis's soul splits into two. On the one hand, he wants to stay on the island. But on the other hand, it’s time for him to return to New York, because workers and factories are waiting for him there. In the end, he decides to stay on the island and continue searching for treasure. The old Indian takes the Morgans to the foot of the mountain. There they find a gap in the rock and go inside it. A rocky room opens in front of them, in which human mummies and bones lie in different corners. As it turned out, they also wanted to find Mayan treasures. These rocks are very dangerous, and the main characters expect only danger everywhere. Suddenly, the son of that same Indian falls into the abyss and dies. This is nothing more than a trap set against treasure robbers. Water begins to pour into the opened gap, completely blocking the entrance through which they got inside the rock. The Morgans and the old Indian are again threatened with imminent death.
As it turned out later, Torres followed them all the way. And like them, he also made his way inside the rock. There is nothing left to do but act together. After all, they can all die. To the joy of all the travelers, the old Indian found an emergency exit and they quickly left the gorge. The water fills the rock more and more and eventually covers it completely. The travelers come out into an open place, from which they can see how a valley stretches out like a green carpet somewhere below. Local tribes call it the Valley of Lost Souls. As soon as the travelers approach the valley, they are captured by a superior number of natives and taken to their camp. There the chief priest of the tribe approaches them and informs them through the old Indian that they do not have long to live, and their fate has been decided by the queen of the tribe. As a result, the queen decides to leave all the travelers alive, but with only one condition: someone must marry her. They looked at each other, it was clearly clear that neither of them wanted to get engaged to this queen of the tribe. As a result, saving the lives of herself and her friends, Francis responds and invites the Queen to marry her. She happily agrees. By the way, she really liked Francis. At this time, Torres wastes no time and discovers that the Queen and the tribe also have their own treasures. He sneaks into the queen's hut and finds that same ill-fated chest of jewelry. As it turned out later, he saw exactly the treasures that were once located in the Mayan cave. And then representatives of this tribe pulled them out of there and appropriated them for themselves. The priest conducts the wedding process of the Queen and Francis. But the representatives of the tribe are not at all happy with strangers. They want to kill everyone, including the traitorous queen. They jump into the stream of the river, which carries them away. And later they walk to the city of San Antonio. There they meet the Solano family. They had long considered them dead. The Solano family gives Francis a letter from New York. It says that he must urgently return to America, as his financial situation is in danger of complete collapse. Francis and the Queen quickly leave for America. Over time, the queen becomes completely accustomed to this new civilization. But one day she overhears a conversation between Francis and his friend, in which her young husband says that he does not love the queen, but loves the Spanish Leoncia. The Queen is in complete despair and in the evening she decides to leave home. No one ever saw her again.
Torres, who has been following the travelers all this time, also arrives in the city of San Antonio. There he goes to a local jeweler and shows him one of the stones he stole from the Queen's chest. The master jeweler tells him that these jewels are worth millions of dollars. The Solano family also learns 2 important news. The first news is that Leoncia turns out to be Henry's sister. Therefore, their wedding with her will never take place. And the second news is related to the murder of Alfaro. As it becomes known that the real killer is Torres. At this time, the Queen arrives in San Antonio. She intends to kill Leoncia, but after talking with her and receiving news from the Solano family, she decides to help Francis defeat his enemies. The Queen calls for the expedition to be equipped again to take all her jewels from the chest. Henry gathers several people and they, together with the Queen, go to the village, followed by a second expedition, led by Torres. Torres sees them and shoots the Queen, killing her with a shot through the heart. Torres is chased, but he falls into the gorge and immediately dies. Francis and his financial assistants finally realize that the true enemy of their position is Regan. Then Henry and Leoncia appear and bring jewelry with them. Now Francis's financial situation is much better and he can marry Leoncia.

Groom's choice.
Since no one expresses a desire to become the queen's chosen one, Leoncia suggests casting lots. He falls to Henry, but Francis, trying, despite his own feelings, to save the union of his friend and his bride, announces that he is ready to become the queen’s husband. (This is the most desirable choice for her: it is Francis who is dear to her from the first minute.) Meanwhile, Torres, having discovered that there is a chest full of precious stones in the royal chambers, tries to take possession of the wealth (although he does not know that he sees treasures in front of him, in ancient times stolen by the Lost Souls from a hiding place in a Mayan cave). But the thief is caught by the queen in the act. Having entered into a struggle with her, he makes a careless move and falls into a foaming stream near the house, which carries him under a rock.

The priest performs the wedding ceremony between Francis and the queen, but immediately after the ceremony he himself and the entire population of the valley begin a decisive offensive against the foreigners. All that's left to do is run. On the queen's orders, Francis lowers the chest of jewelry into a secret hatch under the floor of the house, and all four jump into the stream, which carries Torres away. An underground river carries them to safety. After some time, the fugitives reach the city of San Antonio, where the expedition began, and the Solano family, who had already considered everyone dead, takes them into their arms. Then Francis receives a telegram saying that he urgently needs to return to New York, since his financial situation is in jeopardy. He and the queen leave.
In New York, Francis plunges into business, and his wife, with some difficulty, masters the wonders of civilization. Having once heard Francis's conversation with a friend, to whom he confesses that he is married to one woman and loves another, and seeing a portrait of Leoncia, the queen realizes that she has been deceived in her husband's feelings and leaves the house. Searches are unsuccessful.
Meanwhile, Torres appears in San Antonio, having escaped in the same way as the others. He shows the jeweler one of the few stolen stones, according to his estimate, he guesses the value of the entire treasure in the millions and decides to go after it. The Solano family unexpectedly learns two important secrets, supported by strong evidence: Leoncia, adopted by Enrico as a child, is actually English and is Henry’s sister (there will be no wedding!), and Alfaro’s killer is Torres.

Henry equips an expedition that advances in the mountains at the same time as Torres’s detachment, only on a different road. Torres is the first to reach his goal. The chest is found, but it is not possible to take possession of it, as a hail of arrows falls on the thieves: the Lost Souls decided to kill anyone who approaches the village. At this time, Henry and the queen appear on the rock ledge. Seeing them, Torres shoots and his bullet kills the queen. About the novel
The latest novel by the famous American writer Jack London (1876-1916), “Hearts of Three,” captivates with its intriguing plot and extraordinary dynamism of action. London showed himself in this work as the singer of Adventure, the poet of romantic love unfolding against the backdrop of colorful, unusual scenery. “Hearts of Three” was originally a film script, which later turned into a full-fledged novel with a rich plot, a bright flavor of an adventure Hollywood action movie. The main character is Francis Morgan - the son of a deceased millionaire, born an aristocrat. It all begins with a search for the treasure of the founder of the family - the formidable pirate Henry Morgan, then an unexpected meeting, unexpected capture, liberation, pursuit, treasure, the village of Lost Souls with a beautiful queen... The action takes place almost continuously, the heroes, not having time to get out of one unpleasant situation, immediately end up in something else. Minor characters change each other and sometimes turn out to be not such simpletons as they seem at first glance. [1]
