Essay on the topic: How do truth and lies relate in Gorky’s play “At the Bottom?”

Truth and lies are concepts that are always present in human life. From childhood, a child is taught to be honest and not to deceive people. You can't make a good name by lying to people. It happens that a person can lie for the sake of salvation, preferring to lie. Someone does not dare to confess so as not to destroy their family or someone else’s life. An essay on the topic “Truth and Lies” will help you understand why the choice of this or that decision depends, as well as why some people tend to lie, while others do not.

Recommendations and writing rules

True and false are opposite meanings. People have different attitudes to these concepts, although it is believed that everyone has lied at least once in their life.

Preparing for work

Before you begin, you need to understand what the main idea of the essay is. Then make a plan. With its help it will be easier to reveal the topic. In order to write an essay-argument on the topic “Truth and lies”, you can ask the following questions:

  • what do these concepts mean?
  • How does deception affect people?
  • what examples are known?
  • why do people lie?
  • What motivates you to tell the brutal truth?

After answering the questions, you can move on to composing the composition. It consists of the following elements:

  • introduction;
  • main part;
  • conclusion.

The work must also contain a thesis, arguments, and conclusions. You can use quotes, but do not overuse them. It is important to follow the logic of presentation and avoid mistakes.

Composition

The compositional part of the essay must not be violated. The absence of one of the elements will violate the integrity of the argument. The introduction should be brief. Here you need to write the essence of the work. We can define the concepts of deceit and truth.

The main part of the work should reveal the main topic of the work. It is necessary to give examples from life or literary works, and then analyze and evaluate them. You can describe the impact of deception on people, why they do it, and also why “white lies” are used.

In the final part, you need to draw conclusions and write about the relevance of the topic in modern times.

The work must be consistent, without errors. Before submitting your essay, you need to check it for errors and the logic of the presentation of thoughts.

Work examples

A lie is something that does not correspond to reality. Truth makes a person free. Many people lie to achieve their goals. The question is whether it is worth it and whether individuals have the right to lie.

Mini-essay for 6th grade

Lies and truth are antonyms. To tell truthfully means to tell the truth, that is, what happened in reality. True stories are always reported without withholding any details.

A lie is an invention, a deception. Liars are not respected in society. It is believed that you should not deal with such people, since you do not know when to expect lies from deceivers and from which side.

You can give an example from N.V. Gogol’s comedy “The Inspector General ,” where Khlestakov made up a story about life in St. Petersburg. And he said it in such a way that he himself believed it. The hero committed deception for personal gain. Such an act characterizes him as a dishonest person. Of course, you can find an excuse for him, because the listeners were also liars. This whole situation looked funny.

I believe that it is impossible to accurately divide truth and lies into good and bad. It happens that you need to lie to save someone's life.

An example when a lie is necessary to console a person is Gorky’s play “At the Depths,” where Satin’s truth and Luke’s deception collide. The Stranger wanted to instill hope in people who found themselves at the very bottom of this life. He tried to give hope for the best. Of course, this hero’s lie did not save any of the residents of the shelter, but at least the people felt better for a while. Satin justifies the wanderer, but he himself believes that deception is the religion of slaves and masters.

As a result of my essay on the topic “Lies and Truth,” I want to say that each individual has his own attitude towards lies and truth. I think that every single person should be honest. Human relationships are built on trust, and for it to exist, it is necessary to always tell the truth and not lie.

Falsehood is the deliberate transmission of information for the purpose of creating or maintaining in another person beliefs that the transmitter himself considers not to correspond to the truth. Wikipedia But for me, defining this as fame sounds a little different. A lie is the desire to appear better than you are. Now they lie without even noticing, easily and naturally. But I think that this is not so bad, in the end everyone wants to seem better. Are lies really that bad? Sometimes all you need to be happy is nothing, a little lie, self-deception. But there is always a price. And this price is destroyed illusions, which are shattered to smithereens by the ever emerging truth. And everyone must understand for themselves whether they are ready to pay. So, good luck and be careful!

It's not profitable to lie!

It would seem that when a person lies, he believes that it will help him, without thinking about the consequences.
But everything is relative. If you try to prove that lying is profitable, you will get something like this: When you lie, then you have a lot of privileges, such as improved attitude towards yourself (if they don’t know that you are lying), increased authority out of emptiness, everyone considers you like that what kind of a lie are you? And when you lie for the greater good, it’s an even greater advantage. Since most good lies are created to save the nerves of another person, when you lie, the person does not get nervous, unaware of the lie. Accordingly, a person lives longer. Unfortunately these privileges are very vague. Let's just say temporary. And I’m not talking about the concept “Everything secret becomes clear,” no. Although this is a case of white lies. And in general, I believe that lies cannot be useful. Well, in the case of ordinary lies, it will all come down to the fact that your authority will be created from empty words, unless of course you try to live up to it. Is it really beneficial to be a person with verbal authority? No. And in general, I believe that if a person lies about what he is like, then either a) he doesn’t get enough attention, or b) he has low self-esteem and with his lies he is trying to distract others from the person he is. Accordingly, weak people lie, not ready to accept a person’s reaction to the truth told. Maria Alekhina-Maslovskaya

The most dangerous lie is lying to yourself.

A lie is one of the most terrible things in the world, although it is interpreted as deception or a distortion of the truth. Lies spoil people's relationships with each other and themselves. Many of us create our image through lies. They deceive people, but people already know everything about them. Even if you deceive others, you cannot lie to yourself. In a person’s life there are loved ones, friends, acquaintances and people who are not pleasant to him. But he has himself, his own individuality, his own perception of the world, which means that if he lies to himself, then he is lying to his closest comrade. I believe that any person’s closest friend is himself. In difficult times, the first thing he will do is turn to himself and look for a solution to the problem within himself. If a person lies to himself, then he does not have a person whom he trusts, because one of the reasons for lying is not trusting others and the desire to appear better than you really are. It seems to me that you need to be honest, at least to yourself. If you deceive people for the sake of image, then any praise does not belong to you, it belongs to a fictitious person. Let people better love you for who you are, but for real! Try to be honest, the truth is always better than a lie, “after all, everything secret always becomes clear”!

The secret always becomes clear. “The secret always becomes clear” - I heard this phrase more than once, but for some reason I always continued to lie. Maybe I did this because it benefits me? Don't know. But for some reason I did it. All my lies came to light, sometimes because of me, and sometimes from others. A lie is a boomerang that you try to hide about everyone, but sometimes when you launch it again, it no longer flies towards you, but towards the one from whom you tried to hide it. Everyone has lied and will lie, not always for their own benefit. After all, there are times when lying is really necessary. Sometimes this lie can save a person’s life, help him in a difficult life situation. A lie is a thing that should be used only in cases where it is really necessary. Although sooner or later it will come true.

Lying is not profitable

Lies are the basis of the life of every second person in the world. Lies enter people's lives in an instant. If a person lied to someone for the first time and for his own benefit, then he may think that lying is good and will continue to brazenly deceive people. When you lie to a person point blank, and he knows the truth, then, after some time, this deceived person will begin to treat you worse: he will stop believing you, lose interest in you, and then he will stop talking to you altogether, knowing how deceitful you are personality. When a person lies, he must understand what he is doing. It's like a contract. If you do not take into account all the points of this agreement, then everything may go wrong, for example, you can lose a person close to you, because you did not take into account some point of this false agreement! A lie makes a person strong on the outside, but weaker on the inside, and people take this as the truth, although, I understand them, it is difficult to understand when a person lies to you. And those who do not lie to people are strong inside, and outside too. This is what I think: if a person does not lie, then on the outside he does not seem strong, because the truth is not always sweet, but sometimes bitter. Many will consider my idea incorrect and will be able to refute it with many arguments. In conclusion, I want to say that most people who lie, they lie for their own benefit. If you look from the point of view of a modern person, then these people lie only because of laziness!

Lies are bad. Lying is bad and sometimes disgusting. For me, lying is definitely not a good thing. After all, if a person lies to me, then he wants to mislead me. Maybe he wants to use me for his own purposes. Or maybe he just wants to laugh at me. Or he’s lying, he didn’t think to leave him alone. In any case, his lies do not initially imply anything good. I don’t like people to whom lying is “like blowing into a puddle.” And I know such people, I was even friends with some of them at one time. But not for long. You can communicate with them, but you cannot be friends, you cannot start any common affairs. Otherwise you will get into trouble. There is such a thing as a “white lie.” This is when a person is not told the truth, so as not to upset him. For example, they do not report that something unpleasant happened, but reassure: “everything is fine, everything is fine, nothing to worry about.” But such a lie still remains a lie, and there is no escape from it. A person will still suspect, suffer, and suffer. And then he finds out the truth. And who knows, it wouldn’t have been better to tell the whole truth at once. The only option for a “white lie,” which I personally recognize, is to remain silent when one really cannot speak. For example, so that there is no panic. Or, so as not to cause a deep heart wound. It’s not for nothing that they say: “silence is golden.” It seems to us that with our lies we are saving our loved ones from unnecessary worries, as they say, we do not want to hurt them. There is probably some kind of line, a kind of balance, where lies should not outweigh the truth. But is this possible? In my opinion this is nonsense. There are too many people in the world who lie, and you can’t get rid of it. Although maybe I'm wrong. And lies can be life-saving, because it’s not for nothing that from time to time the thought comes to our minds: “It would be better if I didn’t know this”?

Everything secret someday becomes clear.

Everything secret someday becomes clear. For the most part, I agree with this statement, I was convinced of this from personal experience. Although it seemed to me that if I lied, then nothing bad would happen, and what I was hiding would remain in me forever, but everything turned out to be much more complicated. One day, while going to school, my tablet fell out of my briefcase and broke. I was very scared and didn’t tell my parents about it, which I ended up really regretting. In the end, my parents found out the whole truth and said that if I kept lying, I wouldn’t go on the hike, but everything turned out okay. The most important thing I realized is that if you lie a lot, and every time the secret becomes clear, then soon you will lose the trust of those to whom you lied, and your loved ones, and over time you will understand how important it is to you, and how difficult it is to get it back. Thinking about this topic, I remembered 2 very life-like stories. The first by V. Dragunsky “The secret becomes apparent”, where the boy did not want to eat the porridge and threw it out the window, and lied to his mother that he ate the porridge, as a result, a man came to the apartment on whose head this porridge fell, and Deniska’s mother found out everything , as a result of which Deniska suffered severe punishment. And the second one, I don’t remember its name, but it was about one guy, a shepherd, who joked several times that his flock was attacked by wolves, and the inhabitants of the village where the guy lived rushed to help, and on the 3rd time their patience ran out. But then wolves really attacked his herd, he ran for help, but no one believed him. That's how he lost his farm. But still, it seems to me that only what you really care about becomes obvious, and those are petty lies, they are rarely revealed, and you think that the secret does not always become obvious, and you begin to lie more. There is a proverb: Little lies give rise to big lies. And I sincerely believe in this.

It's not profitable to lie!

A lie is a deception that some people commit unconsciously, and some consciously. In childhood, everyone was taught that lying is bad, but someday a person will lie anyway. Most often, people lie to appear better. This person is probably ashamed of himself and starts lying. Although sometimes things happen when people are offended by the truth. An honest person commands respect, the main thing is trust in himself. Because everything secret becomes obvious, and a person who lied once can lie again and trust in him decreases. It's not profitable to lie. A lying person is a bad person. I believe that lying is bad not only from an ethical point of view, but honesty can also be unnecessary when you don’t want to upset people, there are various reasons, sometimes even good ones. Well, even if you are going to lie, think carefully about whether it will harm the person. Sivakova Anna

It's not profitable to lie!

Lying is unprofitable and I will prove it. For example, let’s take an example (case) like this: You ask a friend: “Can I come visit you?”, She will answer: “No, I have a workout (or another activity),” then on the way (on the way back) you meet another friend and start asking her: “Where are you going?”, and she will answer: “Visit Vera (for example),” but you don’t understand what’s happening and start asking: “But She has training today?”, and she replies: “What are you doing?!” She doesn’t have training this week,” and then you realize that she lied to you and of course you are offended by her. This is an example of the fact that “Everything secret becomes clear.” Vasilyeva Anna
