One of his favorite pastimes was spending time among old books. When he was twelve years old, he noticed a painting that hung in the library. It depicted a ship led by a captain. Character

Although Gray spent his childhood in a luxurious castle and all his whims were fulfilled, this did not spoil his good disposition. The boy was very sensitive to the suffering of others. Even in the painting depicting the crucifixion, he covered the nails on Christ’s hands with blue paint and had already begun to paint over his feet, but his father caught him and asked why he had ruined the painting. The boy replied that he did not want nails sticking out of his hands and blood flowing.

When he was ten years old, the girl Betsy scalded her hand in the kitchen of the castle. Arthur was acutely aware of her suffering and, in order to understand whether she was in great pain, he splashed hot soup on his hand. Then he took Betsy to the doctor and only when he helped her did he show him his hand.

Once he learned that Betsy and the groom Jim could not get married because they had no money for the household, Arthur broke his piggy bank, took all the money from there (about a hundred pounds) and slowly put it in Betsy’s chest along with a note: “Betsy, this is your. The leader of a band of robbers, Robin Hood." So, already from the case with the picture in which the crucified Christ was depicted, and from the story with Betsy, it became clear that Arthur Gray belongs to the type of miracle worker. Having met Assol, he finally understood one simple truth: you can do miracles for people with your own hands. To do this, you just need to give a person what his soul wants. When Arthur fell in love with Assol and decided to fulfill her dream, he was overcome by the “spirit of immediate action.” Having set a goal for himself, he mentally planned the upcoming course of events. On one of his trips, Arthur met a girl named Asol. The guy found out that Asol dreamed of a prince with scarlet sails. Gray decided to make her dream come true.
